Thank you for your interest in my blog. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Buffalo, New York. I mainly work with couples, though not exclusively. What I have found is that nearly every person I speak to about starting relationship therapy says the same thing. We just don’t communicate very well.
Communication is difficult for one main reason. We don’t do the math right. God gave us two ears and one mouth. That means we ought to use the ears twice as much as the mouth, right? But is that what we do? Do we really put an effort into listening? Or are we more interested in getting our point across? It’s as if we just have to be right! The thing about being right is that you will probably be alone as well.
I am dedicated to helping people communicate more effectively. I have seen what poor communication has done to most couples. I have also seen what poor communication has done to me in my intimate relationships. I happy to say I have learned along the way. I believe I offer sound counsel on communications…and relationships in general.
I come from a large family (three brothers and five sisters). With five older sisters, you can imaging what the hand-me-downs looked like. I wore saddle shoes and skirts until I was old enough to do some shopping! My parents, now in their 80’s, have been married over 68 years. Family has been and continues to be the most important thing in the world to me.
My hope is to help families to find more function and less dysfunction in this crazy busy world of ours. Let’s enjoy the journey together.
